Notes for Visa Acquisition and Maintenance
When foreigners apply for acquisition of the "Artist" visa, they must show they will be able to obtain enough compensation to make a stable living in Japan from their artistic activities. Therefore, they are usually required to have "substantial achievements" in their previous artistic activities.
When foreigners apply for extension of period of stay of the "Artist" visa, their amount of income received from artistic activities and their tax payment status are important factors.
